Phil Jackson

Phil Jackson, player and coach, is much idolized. But he has some things to say: "I vowed to create an environment based on the principles of selflessness and compassion." He used the triangle in basketball, to bring "cooperation and freedom." I wonder if this is of use in heading a department or a division of a university, where the usual line is that one is herding cats when you try to move your faculty.
