Faculty Salaries and Benefits as 1/4 of the Budget

From some budget figures I have seen, at least in some departments, faculty salaries and benefits are about 1/4 of the budget. There is a good deal of research passing through the unit, so I would expect that low-research dollar units would find faculty salaries a larger fraction of the expenses.
